Haha, true, but it's the shipping that's killer. xD I love that you can get pinkies and fuzzies for like, 15 cents a piece. I hope they do well, they've been pretty accepting of new meat sources lately, so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed. I might have to resort to dousing the first pinkies in salmon oil, or maybe cutting them open so they know there's yummy meats inside. I'm so excited, haha. xD

If you know a snake breeder or another ferret raw feeder in you area, perhaps you can do a group order?

When Jade did it I think she smeared the snout a little with high quality wet cat food the first time XD. It was funny because Jumpin Jack Flash (or JJF), her big male started eating and was like ".....this is the best thing ever...". She starts young kits on pinkies and the adults will get the whole. Her cats usually get rats or a guinea pig as whole prey.

I love meece and quails and such simply because it's a whole food item, guts and bones and all. Whenever I get another fert it's getting raw for sure. Way too much crap in fert foods nowadays

Jumpin Jack Flash = Awesomest ferret name I've heard in a loong while. xD <3

Haha, I can see my oldest ferret getting used to eating pinkies pretty well, she's the first one to try anything new I throw at her (she just got a piggy pizzle stick last night and was running all over the place with it while the others looked at her like she was crazy xD).

I really hope to get them all on whole prey eventually, but I need to find a better job than the one I have now so I can afford it, or someone that would consistently order with me to split the shipping the costs. xD They're the perfect package, especially for ferrets and cats since this is what their bodies were designed to eat. The right mix of meat, fur, bones and organs, all ready to go. You can't make a better food.

Oh man, I'd never go back to ferret food. I had my oldest ferret, Tikki, and my previous ferret on feline EVO, and I thought that was good, but raw just changed everything about the way I think about feeding them. There's so much unnecessary stuff in foods. And then I was checking out some ferret snacks, and they have raisins in them, and I'm standing there staring at the can of treats (which is overly sugar filled and chock full of unnecessary carbs) and wondering who in the world thinks raisins, which are toxic to cats and dogs, are fine for ferrets? Well, Kaytee brand for one, because their Ferret Fiesta used to have them. I don't think they do anymore, but it's still full of sugar and dried fruits. For ferrets. o__o

Just ordered a whole bunch of meeces - from pinkies to large hairless (I know, what?) so next week, the fuzzbutts are going to be getting used to their food coming in little fuzzy packages.

Found it through a herp forum, seems to have pretty good reviews from people. :3 They had special prices on a whole bunch of mice, including the large hairless (which I can't wait to see xD) and with orders of $100 shipping is free to my address. I'll be stocked up with enough meece to give them whole prey meals two times a week for the next... 6 months? Just about. xD

Thanks for the tip, I didn't know that. D: Freezer burned pinkies would be bad. I'm guessing I can give them as treats or something after they all get used to fuzzy mice. :3

So, I've got Tikki eating halved Pinkie mice if I smother them in salmon oil (although she leaves the legs and tails).
I got Mis to eat part of a pinkie half today by shoving it in his mouth. I think the texture of whole prey is throwing him off. He knows it's food, he'll eat what I put in his mouth (mostly) but he looks SO CONFUSED.
Coco is being a brat and won't even chew on the pinkie. She'll gag if I put it in her mouth, then hold it delicately until I let her go, so she can run and hide it under something. >__<

Still! It's a bit of progress. I knew this wasn't going to be easy, haha, although I wish it would be. I'll take my camera down the next time I give them pinkies (either tonight or tomorrow morning) and get some pics. :3

NECRO THREAD TIME

There was a purpose for this thread so I'm not about to dump my ferrets eating mice pics in a new thread for no reason. Cool? Cool.

Posting these because it's big awesome time. Tikki took to the mice the easiest (weirdo, she's the oldest she should've been last in line) and now all three of the ferrets are chowing down on mousecicles!
Only got pics of Coco and Tikki because Mis is a goof and is more interested in the camera than the mice whenever I pull the camera out.







Tikki prefers tails, Coco likes the heads (and brains? She's a zooombbiieee that explains those red eyes). Today Tikki grabbed a mouse and she settled down to chow on the tail and Coco joined in at the other end.

BLAH BLAH BLAH FUZZY FERRETS DEAL WITH IT I think I've got some normal pics for the other thread too. (I really need to stop taking these long unannounced absences ugh).
