Well. . .crap.
« on: May 16, 2010, 01:59 pm »
Does anyone know what I can cover my strawberry plant with to keep it away from rodents? I can't spray anything smelly near it or the people upstairs will complain and there is no where high I can put it.

I need a cage or something of some sort.

It must be the new mouse eating variety of strawberry.

Go to the thrift store and see if they have a hamster cage.

Chipmunk possibly. Last year, a squirrel ate part of a strawberry on my plant. This time, they took the entire strawberry (wasn't ready unlike the first one).

I'll look around for some sort of cage.

I'm about to start my strawberry plant and am planning on trying staking bird netting around and above it with the hopes that it will keep everything but smaller bugs off it.

Will let you know if it works, but it will be some time before I know.

Was gonna suggest something like that. You can also make a small "hot house" using a discarded glass window and a plastic or wood container. Set whatever you're protecting inside and set the glass over it. Just make sure you keep everything well watered and vented so the plants won't burn up.
My brother tried to fuck me for 9 dollars today.  I guess that shows how much I'm worth.

I like to cover my strawberries with sugar and put them on a bed of ice cream and shortbread.

Thinking of donating to H$U$?

Someone who takes Wendy Malick or Wayne Pacelle up on their infomercial request for "just $19 dollars a month" will pay HSUS $228 over the course of a year. Of that, just $1.03 will reach a pet shelter.
