More to come on this issue and more... :x

Yeah, I heard that you amercians are doing that and thought that you have gone mad. If your mission is to bring down your economy and to make sure that your cities are infested with crime, Bush is on the right way.

12 million new immigrants!

Up until now I more or less supported what Bush did (except for Kyotto). But this move is totally idiotic.

VirusX999:
This might be a ploy to gain the spanish vote.

Honestly speaking, I don't see this passing the senate.

For the most part, Bush is doing a fine job, and he'll still get my vote. Specifically, because the alternative is a democrat, which would be horrible news for the world, let alone the US.

Just think how terrorism would flourish, because a coward democrat is in office.

Virus hit the nail on the head... this is about a politician getting votes... plain & simple. While many conservatives are hopping mad about Dubya's liberal trip on immigration and spending, he is aware that the Dems offer zero hope of producing a viable candidate. He's aware that as pissed as his conservative base is, he can count on two things:

1. Mainstream Americans (ummmm... that's the majority of Americans for those who may be afflicted with the mental disease known as liberalism) realize that Bush is the right man, in the right place, at the right time. We need a leader, who isn't afraid to interject with a little strong foreign policy.

2. As pointed out by, Virus... the Liberal candidates (with exception to one-who will never see the nomination) offer nothing but more Clinton-esque appeasement and blanket surrender in the face of tyranny.

I gotta lay on this, though... Dubya (and I use that knickname in admiration and respect) has done two things to deserve re-election:

1. His foreign policy in initiating the War on Terror. However, Bush needs to hold the Saudi's to the fire on their terror-harboring issues. Bush also needs to treat Israel like a real ally should and not call on them to do what we should not do.... that is show "enormous restraint" in defending herself. Remember, the Israelis have lived in a 9-11 world for decades now. If Bush would actually cut them some slack and give them a little free reign, most of our mid-East troubles would be over in a couple of years.... after some severe and unfortunate bloodshed, of course.http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040116/D803THV01.htmlhttp://2. His willingness to practice the time tested and Reagan-proved policy of tax cuts. However, this and the customary interest rate tweaking by the Fed ain't enough, folks. The manufacturing industry has been disintegrating for 30+ years now.... mainly due to automation and poor trade policies... this ain't gonna reverse itself. We need some major technological advances in all areas.... the first being energy and fuel dependance. We need something great to build. One area that the libs can raise a arguable point with is that this is a jobless recovery. Tweak and spin the numbers any way you want.... the bottom line is that in a post NAFTA/post industrial manufacturing descent world.... good paying jobs aren't particulary easy to come by. This also takes us to another unmentioned reason for this immigration fiasco... think of all the statistical job growth numbers, if all these "undocumented folk" (I prefer the word criminals) suddenly are registered workers.... they are still doing the same cheap labor job, however, now they are on the books. A job growth explosion... just in time for election day.Virus commented, "Honestly speaking, I don't see this passing the senate." I agree.... I believe that there are a slough of Congressfolk, who will be far more interested in keeping their seat than following the Bush lead on this immigration issue. Bush knows this... heck, he knows that for a prayer of getting this thing passed in time for the '04 election, he needed to get this thing rolling two years ago. The beauty of it? Even when it doesn't pass... people will remember that a Republican did what libs only talked about. When the libs eventually do pass this Amnesty for Criminals Act... people will remember that a Republican first attempted to do what libs only promised.Outside Bush's selectively strong foreign policy and doing the right thing on cutting taxes, he has done little to impress mainstream America... question is.... will it be enough? Time will tell.... it's going to be one hell of an election year. :shock:http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=20295

Regarding the Bush/Democrat immigration criminal-coddling policy...by no means idiotic, Alex... just somewhat crooked, in typical political fashion.

Kyoto, for those who may not be familiar, is an international treaty to reduce greenhouse gases.

Kyoto would have been a disaster for the American economy as well as any developing/developed country's economy... just ask Putin and the Australians. Bush gets hammered on this issue often but critics often fail to mention that four years after the signing of the treaty by 54 nations, only one had ratified it through their own internal legislatures. In 2001, the US Senate rejected ratification with a vote of 95 to 0... anyone out there think that there were 95 Republicans in the Senate in 2001? Libs would like for you to believe this... as this is one of their sticking arguements and criticisms of the Bush administration. Nope, the fact of the matter is, even libs could see that while Kyoto was a nice, well-meaning gesture... it spelled trouble for the economy at the state and national levels. You wanna see a mass exodus of American industrial jobs south of the border... anywhere outside the border... faster than you can say shiznit? Pass and enforce Kyoto.

EU Environment Commissioner Margot Wallstrom said once, "This has to do with international relations. This has to do with trade and economics...We will continue to put pressure on the Americans."

That pretty much spells out the motivation, does it not? Even the motivations of the EU (New USSR-lite, as I like to call it http://www.rogerhelmer.com/giscard.shtml) aren't entirely free of corporate strings and guised policy.
